Change It Up!

As I looked through my closet yesterday, I noticed the items were all very similar. Not just in color, but cut, fit and brand. My wardrobe color spectrum consist of black, shades of gray, and for those days when I'm feeling a bit adventurous...navy. So what is a girl to do when she has an urge to change it up, that's right, shop! Now, that sounds so easy, but breaking out of my "uniform" wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. The gravitational pull to the "dark" side was stronger than I imagined. The beautiful black blouse with half kimono sleeves, the relaxed gray chic scoop neckline shirt, the "I go with everything" ruched bodice black tank with wide shoulder straps... The perfect treasures, but wait these pieces (although beautiful) look exactly the same as the items in my closet. Breaking out of the mold was going to be a real challenge.
I needed a fresh new take on shopping ,so I enlisted my sister to help me change it up. I said what I didn't want and left the rest up to her. She worked to add pizzazz to my established style. It didn't take her long to find key pieces that would change my look. What she presented me with will surprise you, as it did me. She found unique and, in some cases, one of a kind accessories! That's right accessories...belts, necklaces, bracelets, rings, scarves, headbands, handbags, shoes, and even a couple of brooches. It's amazing how much a floral belt buckle can change the mood and tone of a black shift dress! I loved the way a big chunky turquoise and red coral bracelet, and silver and red coral earrings jump started my "uniform" (five-pocket style, back button flap pockets, low-rise waist, bootcut Hudsons and gray scooped neck, smocked waist top). Accessories are one way you can change it up! I for one am truly glad I did!
I loved the accessories so much that some of them will be available on UnoMama.com in February!
