I pledge to use reusable bags because I want to make a difference and I care. Did you know an average person will use 350 non-reusable bags a year! Most plastic bags take over 400 years to biodegrade. Did you know most recycling centers won't take plastic bags? They melt at such a low temperature they get stuck in the equipment and it's time consuming and costly to get them out. Did you know over a dozen countries have banned or put a tax on disposable bags? China uses around 3 billion plastic bags each day. Did you know when plastic "photo degrades" it ends up in our oceans? This process reduces the plastic polymers to smaller and smaller pieces; they become microscopic and are eaten by tiny marine organisms, entering the food chain. Did you know recycling plastic emits heavy metals into air causing air pollution? The manufactures of plastic bags add tons of carbon emissions into the air annually.
 
Did you know you can make a difference by pledging not to use plastic bags? You can do it. Take the pledge. Did you know you don't have to compromise style to take the pledge? There are many eco-fashionable choices....so buy one, two or twenty today and keep the crusade going. You can make a difference.

  

I recently took a tour of the local recycling center and was amazed by the amount of trash that gets thrown in with recyclable items. When contaminating items (like dirty diapers) are found, all the recyclables in that load must be put with trash! So, everyone in your neighborhood could be doing the right thing, and one person could "trash" all of that effort! Please, only recycle recyclable material.
